Summary

This document details the workflow of publishing designs on ftrack using the General Publisher.

Launching the General Publisher

In order to publish your designs, you will first need to:

  1. Make sure you’re logged in to Ftrack connect, which is a standalone app.

  1. Travel to the action context (aka the project) you want to work in.

  1. Launch the SYNK Publish Tool action.

Just click once on the SYNK Publish Tool button.

The General Publisher window will now open automatically.


Publishing the version(s)

In order to publish your file, you will have to follow these steps:

1. File(s)

Files have to be physically located on the server before being published or they will be unaccessible to others.

If your files are coming from an external source, it is best practice to put them inside the 1_incoming folder on the server. Designs can be put inside the graphics folder in a folder that starts with the date (YYMMDD).

2. Task

Select design as the task you want to publish to.

3. Action

Set the action to Image and enable Thumbnail on task.

4. Conversion

Set your conversion to either one of these options:

Filename/Folder conversion by template elements_asset_filename

Indexed filename separation

5. Status

Set both your task and version status, for example:

  • Pending Review and Published

  • Done and Client Approved

6. Publish

Press the Publish button to publish your version(s)!
