Release and product management of the toolbelt

The SYNK realtime toolbelt is packaged as a Unity Package in the Package manager, that means you can see it when you open Package Manager in Unity.

This is interesting to see which version you are using (important when you want to report bugs or want to know why you don’t see an already released feature).

There will also be a link to the Changelog available here.

In the future, this changelog will contain a link to all jira tickets that are included in a certain release.

If you click on the Synk package, you can also see which (third party or external) dependencies it uses and which versions.

Updating the toolbelt

It’s important to use always the latest packages. You have to update them yourself.

When new versions of the toolbelt are available, you can update your project yourself to make sure you are using the latest released version.

When opening Unity, the package versions will be checked automatically and a warning will pop up if any of the necessary packages are outdated. If this is the case, outdated packages can be updated through Windows > Package Manager.

Each project contains the following SYNK packages (which will update frequently):

  • SYNK {Project Code} Project Dependencies for example: SYNK HOAT Project Dependencies

  • SYNK Project Dependencies

  • SYNK Toolbelt

  • SYNK External Dependencies

If it says at the bottom right Up to date, you're good, if it shows upgrade to version x.y.z: click it and wait for the upgrade to succeed.
